KREBS, WARD C. In San Mateo, June 2, 2003. He was born February 21, 1913 to Harry G. and Lillis N. Krebs in Sacramento, CA. Ward grew up in Sacramento where he graduated from Sacramento High School and Sacramento Junior College. He graduated from Stanford University in 1934 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. After several years working for the California State Relief Administration, Ward joined the American Trust Company, now Wells Fargo Bank, as a messenger. He rose to become branch manager, first in North Sacramento, and then in Woodland, CA. He returned to Sacramento as Vice President and District Manager for the Bank. While in Sacramento, Ward was President of the Sutter Club and active in the YMCA. In 1960 Ward became Senior Vice President and Loan Officer for Wells Fargo Bank in San Franciso. He remained with Wells Fargo in a number of positions until he retired in 1978. Ward served in several positions with the Boy Scouts, first as President of the Bay Area Council and later President of the Western Region. He was also a member of the Episcopal Church of Saint Matthew in San Mateo, where he served a term as Senior Warden. Ward was married to Eleanor Blauth Duncan on September 11, 1937 in the Stanford Chapel. They were married for 54 years until her passing in 1992, and they had one child, Robert Duncan Krebs, who now resides in Lake Forest, Illinois. Ward was later married to Dorothy Weil Franklin until her passing in May 1999. Ward is survived by his son, Rob and his wife, Anne, and their three children, Robert Ward, Elisabeth Lindstrom and Duncan Lindstrom Krebs. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy Waldo, who resides in Greeley, CO and by four nieces and nephews, the children of Nancy and Ward's deceased brother Swanston Krebs. In 1997, Anne and Rob Krebs established the Ward C. Krebs Family professorship in the School of Humanities and Sciences at Stanford University in Ward's honor. Private services will be held. Memorials to St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 1 So. El Camino Real, San Mateo, CA 94401 preferred.
