Kathleen Depew Tells Engagement
Miss Kathleen Depew was hostess Wednesday night at a party which the guests had been told was in honor of her mother, Mrs. Thomas J. Depew, down from San Francisco on a visit. But, after the group had gathered and Miss Depew had passed around small white cards for a new game, they discovered that the whole affair had been arranged to announce the hostess’ engagement to A.L. McManum of Palo Alto, for on the cards were printed in gold the names of the couple. Miss Depew is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Depew, former Pacific Grove residents who recently moved to San Francisco, and the sister of Mrs. Edward R. Campbell. She is employed in the office of Dr. Donald Jaques in Monterey and formerly was with Holman’s. Her fiancé is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn McManum of Palo Alto and the young couple’s wedding plans are dependent upon Uncle Sam’s plan for the bridegroom-elect. No date has been set for the wedding. Invited to the announcement party were Mrs. John Zimmerman, Mrs. Arthur Gates, Mrs. Ida Rose, Mrs. Harold Ralph, Mrs. Elgin Hurlbert, Mrs. George Tobin, MRs. Clarence Smith, Mrs. Earl LeMer, Mrs. Clarence Higgins, Mrs. Charles Post, MRs. George Fullerton of Salinas, Mrs. John Wright, Mrs. E.R. Campbell, Mrs. Thomas L. DePEw and Miss Jewel Logan.
