Don Duerr Hopes For Better Luck
A letter from Aviation Cadet Don Duerr revels that he is most anxious to get along with his training again. He has taken several weeks time out on account of injury. Cadet Duerr, graduate of the local schools, is stationed at Camden, South Carolina, with the 64th training detachment of the army air forces. He had the misfortune to break his leg while scuffling with fellow cadets. While on a visit home, he had the cast on his leg autographed and illustrated by various local friends, including the “Tide” editor. He writes that he hopes to be rid of the cast in a few days. “He’s rather unfortunate that there isn’t a war scrap-pile of some sort to which I could donate it, despite the fact that it is a rare treasure of modern art by virtue of the drawings and hieroglyphics thereon.”
