Mr. and Mrs. Thayer Trent Morris (Gerry Heinrich), whose wedding was an event of last Sunday, were the honored guests at a pre-wedding shower held Thursday, February 4, at the home of the bride’s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Ortner in Pacific Grove. Mrs. Eva Pina was the hostess on this occasion and served cakes, cookies and fruit punch to the assembled guests. Gerry and Thayer, whose wedding was to take place three days later, received some beautiful gifts, mostly in the ktichen-linen category, and opening them provided the high excitement of the evening. Those present in addition to the honorees, Mr. and Mrs. Ornter and Mrs. Pina were Judge and MRs. Ray Baugh, Mrs. Mildred Guild, Miss Emmalee Lippman, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Victorine, Miss Lilah Oden, Mrs. Katherine de Mercurio, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Brickman, Mrs. A. Palozola, Margot Oliver, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Polston, Mr. and Mrs. John Maschmeyer, Miss E.L. Virgin, Margie Ottens, Katherine Ham, Dr. and Mrs. C.F. Schilling, Mrs. Charles Hufford, Pvt. Gerry Heinrich a Stunning Bride at Candlelight Ceremony Sunday
Calla lilies, white stock and palms decorated the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Pacific Grove last Sunday evening, February 7, at 7 o’clock, when Gerry Heinrich, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn C. Heinrich of Monterey, became the bride of Thayer Trent Morris, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Edgar Morris of St. Louis, Mo. …der C.H. Lauda came down from San Jose to officiate, he being an old friend of the groom’s family and its only representative. Corporat Harold Vickers of Fort Ord played the wedding march as the bride came down the aisle on the arm of her father. She looked beautiful. Her gown was made of white satin, simply cut in long torso style with full gathered skirt and short tain. The neckline was trimmed with tiny buttons covered in the same material as the dress. Her fingertip veil was of tulle fastened to her head with a wreath of bouvardia. She carried a shower bouquet of gardenias and bouvardia centered with a white orchid. The bride’s ‘something borrowed’ was the gold locket she wore belonging to Katherine Ham and she carried a blue handkerchief lent to her by Margie Ottens. For luck she wore a sixpence in her shoe. Preceding th bride down the aisle was her sister, Ivanette, the maid-of-honor, and the bride’s namesake, Gerryann Polston, the flower girl. Ivanette wore a long dress of aque net with a “V’ arrangement of Talisman roses in her hair and a bouquet of Talisman . Gerryann wore a short, full dress of pink net with wreaths of flowers in her hair and around her neck and she carried a basket of rose petals. Captain Ezra Richards of Fort Ord sand two solos accompanied by the piano by Mrs. Richards. Max heinrich, brother of the bride, served the groom as best man, and Ramon Oliver of Monterey and Aaron heinrich, a nephew from Sunnyvale, ushered. The mother of the bride wore a long black skirt with a pale blue top embroidered in silver. Her corsage was of gardenias. Mrs. A.C. Ortner of Pacific Grove, the bride’s grandmother, wore a brown ensemble with gardenias. After the impressive candlelight ceremony was ended about 60 friends and relatives went to the Heinrich home on Grace street for the reception. Again white stock and calla lilies were used for decoration, and the bride’s table was gay with lighted tapers and the tiered wedding cake. The newlyweds left the reception for la Playa in Carmel were they spent their honeymoon. Gerry wore a stunning ice blue wool suit and hat to match for her going away costume. Her blouse was of pink lace. She wore black accessories and a purple top coat. The orchid from her wedding bouquet was used as a corsage. Mr. and Mrs. Thayer Trent Morris are now at home with the bride’s parents until Mr. Morris hears from his draft board. He may possibly be deferred in order that he may continue his medical training as he is in his thrird year of pre-dental at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska. His bride was a senior at Union and would have been graduated next February if she hadn’t decided to make marriage her career. Their immediate future plans depend entirely upon Uncle Sam. Among members of the family present at the wedding Supper were Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Ortner, the bride’s grandparents from Pacific Grove; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Ornter of Berkeley (Mrs. Heinrich’s brother and sister-in-law) and their children, Jimmy and Carol Jena; and Mr. and Mrs. Huldrick Krieger of San Ardo and their daughter, Patricia. Mr. Krieger formerly taught in the Monterey elementary schools but is now principal of San Ardo high school. Mrs. Krieger is Mrs. Heinrich’s sister.
