Pacific Grove Tribune, CA Aug. 23, 1935
Mr. and Mrs. K.G. Matheson Surprise With Wedding News
Though their many friends expected to have their wedding date announced very soon, the former Miss Evelyn A. Spotswood and (Kay) Knute Gunner Mathison completely bowled them over by announcement that their wedding day was June 17, 1934, and that the place was Reno, Nevada. Just 14 months later former announcement was made Saturday evening at a dinner party at Forest Hill hotel at which Mr. Gordon Spotswood, father of the bride, and Mrs. Spotswood were hosts. Clever place cards revealed the interesting news at the dinner, at which the following were guests: Mr. and Mrs. Mathison, Mr. and Mrs. E. Cooke Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde G. Dyke, and Mr. and Mrs. J. Floyd Rogers. The young couple decided to wait until Mr. Mathison completed his course in the college of pharmacy at the University of California and passed his state board examination this summer. Mr. Mathison is now employed at the Rogers and Dyke drug store and Mrs. Mathison has been employed at the Security State bank for several years. She is a graduate of Pacific Grove high school and the sister of Mr. Russell Spotswood of Palo Alto. Mr. Mathison is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Mathison of Pacific Grove and has several brothers and sisters living here. They will establish their home in the Rodgers departments on Ocean View avenue after September 1.
