Engagement of Grove Couple Told at Dinner
Tiny parchment engagement cards, representing marriage certificates, and hidden in French bouquets revealed the betrothal of Miss Frances Maas to Paul Raymond Sunday evening at a dinner given at the Wallace L. Earl home on Laurel avenue. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Maas of Pacific Grove, the bride-elect, was graduated from the Grove schools and attended the Salinas Junior College. Her fiancé is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Raymond, also of this city, and attended the local schools. He is the brother of Miss Mildred Raymond. No date for the wedding has been set yet. At the dinner were the betrothed couple. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Maaas, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Raymond, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace L. Earl and Miss Mildred Raymond.

Newlyweds Make Home in Carmel
With the ever-increasing number of weddings crowding each week of this month it becomes more evident that September will far surpass that of June, the traditional month of the brides. Another of the Peninsula weddings took place last week-end when Miss Frances Maas became the bride of Paul Raymond at a ceremony performed by the Rev. Albert E. Clay in St. John’s chapel at Del Monte. Attired in a dark blue suit with matching accessories and a corsage of gardenias, the bride was attended by the sister of the bridegroom, Miss Mildred Raymond. Harry Maas was best man for his son-in-law. There was a wedding breakfast later in Santa Cruz and after a wedding trip the couple returned to make their home in Carmel. Mrs. Raymond is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Maas and was graduated from the Grove high school in the class of 1933. Her husband also attended local schools.
