Now “At Home” Are Newlywed Edward Bauers
At home in Salinas are Mr. and Mrs. Edward M. Bauer Jr., who were married July 3 in the First Methodist Church of Salinas. Mrs. Bauer, the former Marjorie Jensen, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter H. Messick of Salinas. The benedict is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward M. Her sister and maid-of-honor, Miss Mary Messick, was dressed in a pink suit, and wore a corsage of gardenias. Acting as best man was Louis D. Ehret Jr. of Sacramento, a former classmate of the groom, while John Detrich of Salinas served as usher. About sixty friends and relatives witnessed the ceremony, which was performed by the reverend Douglas Ewan. The church was decorated for the occasion with masses of white gladiola and Esther Reed dahlias, and illuminated by tall white tapers in which candelabra. During the ceremony, Donald Stewart, brother-in-law of the bride sang “I Love You” and “Because” accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Willard Farr. Immediately following the wedding, a reception was held in the church hall. Assisting the newly-weds in greeting the guests were Mrs. Messick and the senior Mrs. Bauer. Mrs. Messick was garbed in a blue suit, while Mrs. Bauer was dressed in a grey suit. Both wore corsages of pink carnations. The bride attended Ukiah schools. The groom is a graduate of Stanford University and a veteran of World War II. Among the out-of-town guests at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. L.D. Ehret Jr. of Sacramento, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur McEwen of Carmel, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Leggitt and Carol Leggitt of Hanford, and George Messick of Fresno.
