Wedding Trip to Cape Colony
George W. Borrows, consulting engineer of the Bechuanaland Exploration Company in South Africa, and Miss Caroline Virginia Bosqui, daughter of Dr. Bosqui of Ross Valley, were united in marriage at the bride’s home across the bay at 3 o”clock yesterday afternoon. The wedding was a pretty affair. About 100 friends of the contracting parties witnessed the ceremony, which was performed by Rev. C.L. Miel of Sacramento. The assemblage then sat down to a wedding repast. Robert Mein attended the bridegroom as best man and Miss Borrowe, sister of the groom, was bridesmaid. Borrwe came all the way from Buluwayo to claim his bride, arriving here in August. He has been prominently identified with the management of some of the largest mining properties in the Rand for several years, and at present occupies a responsible position with the Bechuanaland Company. He ws introduced into South Africa by John Hayes Hammond, with whom he left here some years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Borrowe came to San Francisco after the wedding ceremonies and engaged apartments at the Palace. They will leave for the East today and sail on an early steamer to London, from which place they will go almost directly to Cape Colony. They are both hoping to see some of the hostilities in South Africa before the expiration of their honeymoon – San Francisco Chronicle, October 19th.
