Ernest & Anna Marie Marshall of Carmel Valley celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Feb. 2. A celebration was held in their honor at the Carmel Valley Inn. The couple married Feb. 2, 1947 at the Ebenezer Methodist Church in Shelburn, Ind. They have lived in Carmel Valley for 25 years. Mr. and Mrs. Marshall have six children; Pamela Marshall of Bedford, Ind., Linda Lapidus of Aromas, David Marshall of Portland, Ore., Ernest Marshall Jr. of San Diego, and Cynthia Bigbee of Applegate. Mrs. Marshall was born Anna Marie Martin in Shelburn. She earned a masterís degree in microbiology from Purdue University and is a past president and state board member of the Salinas chapter of California Women for Agriculture. Mrs. Marshall is also a past president of Monterey Peninsula Volunteer Services and the Carmel Valley Womanís Club, and a past member of the Carmel Valley Community Center Board. Mr. Marshall was born in Bonner Springs, Kan., and is a veteran of World War II. He earned a bachelorís degree in agriculture at Purdue University and a doctorate in vegetable crops at Cornell University. He was employed in the agricultural department of Union Carbide, retiring after 30-years. He is a past president of Soilserv Co. in Salinas and the Carmel Valley Garden Club. The couple have two grandchildren.
