Frank T. Maderak, a former resident of Pacific Grove, died Sept. 1 of cardiac arrest in Kansas City, Kan. He was 73. Born in Kansas City in 1917, Mr. Maderak was a painting and decorating contractor in Pacific Grove for 30 years before retiring and returning to Kansas City in 1986. He was one of the original volunteer workers for the Bing Crosby Pro-Am Golf Tournament and remained with it during the tournament’s entire 25 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Lena of Kansas City; three sons, Frank, Kenneth and James, all of Chicago; two daughters, Joan Styler and Shirley Romanski, both of Chicago; three brothers, Joseph of Kansas City, Ted of Chicago and Chester of Hollister; three sisters, Marie and Sophie Novak and Helen Zager, all of Kansas City; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Services have been held, and entombment has taken place in Kansas City.
