James J. Rowland, 56, a resident of Pacific Grove for the past six years, died early this morning in a local hospital after an illness of several months. A native of Philadelphia, Pa., he was born Dec. 31, 1911. With his wife, Olga M. Rowland, he came from Roslyn, Pa., in 1962, making a home at 1247 Surf Ave. in Pacific Grove. He was a veteran of Army service in World War II and was currently shop foreman for the Roi-Seal Co. of Seaside. Mr. Rowland was a member of St. Angela’s Church. In addition to his wife, he leaves six sisters: Mother Rita Josephine of St. Joseph Order, Miss Marie and Miss Evelyn Rowland, Mrs. Katherine Slavin, Mrs. Dorothy Armstrong and Mrs. Betty Hart, all of Philadelphia; and a brother, Daniel Rowland, also of that city. Funeral services are pending at the McGillin Mortuary, 48th street and Baltimore avenue in Philadelphia. The Paul Mortuary is in charge of local arrangements.
