Mrs. Ruth Amanda Norton Sr., 71, a Peninsula resident for the past 44 years, died yesterday at her home, 1285 Harcourt Ave., Seaside, following a brief illness. She was born June 28, 1896, in Chicago, Ill. Her husband, the late George A. Norton Sr., died about six years ago. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Nellie Dickey of Santa Barbara and Mrs. Marie Ernst of Carmel Valley; three sons, George A. Norton Jr. of Monterey, Harry M. Norton of Marina and William H. Norton of Carmel; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Norton was a member of the First Assembly of God Church of Seaside, the California League of Senior Citizens and the Women’s Missionary Council. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Paul Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. J. Lee Mildon of the First Assembly of God Church officiating. Burial will follow in Mission Memorial Park. The Paul Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
