Hy Samuels, 76, of Salinas, a retired furniture maker, died yesterday at a convalescent hospital in Salinas. Mr. Samuels was born in Manchester, England, on Jan. 25, 1917, and moved to Salinas 15 years ago. Prior to that he was a longtime resident of Los Angeles. He was a member of Temple Beth El in Salinas. He is survived by his wife, Ella; a son, Alan of Salinas; a brother, Henry of Los Angeles; and two grandchildren. Graveside services will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. at the Garden of Memories Cemetery. A reception service will follow immediately at temple Beth El. The Struve & Laporte Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests that any memorial contributions be sent to Temple Beth El or to the donor’s favorite charity.
