Betrothal Announced
In three different sections of the North American continent, and announcement is being made today of the engagement and forthcoming marriage of Miss Margaret Jane Beamer of Carmel and Erle G. Howery, a student of Chinese-Mandarin at the Army Language School. Friends are hearing the news on the Monterey Peninsula in West Vancouver, B.C. (where Mrs. Beamerís parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Hilton Beamer make their home) and in Charleston, W.Va., where the future bridegroomís father, C.C. Howery, resides. Dec. 23 at 8 p.m. is the time set for the wedding, and the Church of the Wayfarer in Carmel will be the place. The bride-to-be shares an apartment in Carmel with the Misses Winifred Klay and Donnie Nunes. She attended the University of British Columbia, where she was affiliated with Kappa Phi Beta, and graduated in 1952 from the St. Paul School of Nursing in Vancouver. She is on the nursing staff of Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. A member of Monterey Bay Panhellenic, Miss Beamer is also a member of the Camber Ski Club in Salinas. Mr. Howery majored in journalism at Concord State College in Athens, W.Va., and is a member of Phi Delta Beta and Gamma Phi Omicron. He served in the Pacific Theater with the Army during World War II. On Dec. 17, he will complete his course at the Army Language School.
