E. Joyce Thompson and Carney Cargil To Wed Saturday
At five o’clock Saturday evening, Miss Emily Joyce Thompson of Monterey and Carney Cargil of Salinas will be united in marriage at an Episcopal ceremony which Reverend Theodore Bell will perform in St. John’s Chapel at Del Monte. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Thompson of Monterey, the bride-elect will be attended by her sister, Mrs. George Boutonnet of Marina, and by Miss Rose Ornegna of marina. William Balvin of Salinas will perform the duties of best man for Mr. Cargil, and the ushers will be Ralph Sutherland of Salinas and Howard Roberts of Carmel. A family dinner party in the Thompson home on Munras avenue will follow the wedding. After a week’s honeymoon in Arizona, the couple will motor to Santa Maria to reside. Mr. Cargil is with the government project in that city. Miss Thompson was graduated last June from the Monterey Union high school, and in her senior year she was the student body secretary. Her fiancé, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Cargil of Salinas, is a graduate of the Salinas schools. Two of his sisters, Violet and Naomi Cargil, live in Salinas, and another sister, Helen, makers her home in Arizona. The bride-to-be was the honor guest Friday evening at a prenuptial party and shower, given in the Marina home of her sister. Qantities of beautiful red and white begonias were arranged throughout the rooms, and the same flowers adorned the buffet table. A miniature bridal couple occupied the center of the table. Present to compliment Miss Thompson were Mesdames Robert McGowan, Archie Shelp, Arthur Leedy, A Rourniguiere, Marie Smith, Florence Sleath, Charles Hall, John Pozar, Dick Whitmer, Eva Lawrence, Tom Eide, Raymond Jackson, Charles Akins, Victor Bridler, Melvin Jacobsen, Howard Roberts, Ernest Thompson, George Ornegna, Charles Blair, Fred Hobson, Bret Wells, Max Thomasson, Herbert Thage, Floyd Cargil of Salinas, Charles Baker, Ruth Farber, Kenneth Mobley, Mac McCormick, George Boutonnet and Misses Naomi Cargil of Salinas, Lois McCormick, Rose ornegna, Mary Jean Eida, Barbara Lee Eide, Marion Drieschman and Mary Casteras.
