Alice Mayberry to Marry Walter Carmean on June 7
Miss Alice Mayberry of Pacific Grove has set June 7 for her wedding to Walter Carmean of Santa Cruz. The ceremony will be performed by the Rev. primus Bennett Sunday afternoon in the First Christian Church in Pacific Grove. Following a Lake Tahoe honeymoon, the couple will live at the Carmean home on Storey street, Santa Cruz. Miss Mayberry heads the mathematics department of the Pacific Grove high school, a position she has held for a number of years. She attended Mills College and is a graduate of the University of California. Mrs. R.J. Manville of San Francisco and John S. Mayberry of Antioch are the sister and brother of the bride-elect, and she is a niece of Mrs. Sarah White and a cousin of Claiborn White of Pacific Grove. Mr. Carmean is the son of Mrs. Alice Carmean of 90 Cayuga street and the late Lester Carmean, oldtime residents of Santa Cruz. He has been a member of the Bank of America staff in Santa Cruz for a number of years, and is the brother of Mrs. Ethel Van Scoten of San Francisco, Mrs. Ollie Sinkinson of Santa Cruz, and of C.D. Carmean of Stockton, W.M. Carmean and Dr. Clyde Carmean of Santa Cruz. His son, Don Carmean, is stationed at a naval air base in New York. The bride-elect entertained a group of faculty members of her school in the home that she shares with Mrs. May L. Chase on Forest avenue, Pacific Grove, on a recent afternoon, and told them of her approaching wedding day.
