Dr. Archie Hart, Well Known Peninsula Resident, Dies
Dr. Archie John Hart, a practicing dentist in Monterey for over 30 years, died this morning in a local hospital after an illness of several months. Dr. Hart was born Aug. 14, 1906, in Santa Cruz and accompanied his family in 1919 to Pacific Grove where his father, the late Dr. F.R. Hart, was a practicing dentist for many years. He was graduated from Pacific Grove High School in 1924, continuing his education at the University of California and receiving his degree from the UC School of Dentistry in 1929. That same year he began his practice in Monterey. His present office is at 499 Pacific St. Dr. Hart served in the South Pacific with the Navy Dental Corps during World War II, receiving his discharge as a lieutenant commander. He was a member of the Naval Reserve, a charter member of the Monterey Lions Club and the Pacheco Club, belonging also to IDES. An ardent sportsman, he had membership in a number of hunting and fishing clubs. Surviving are: His wife, Mrs. Charlotte Hart of Rancho Aguajito; and his mother, Mrs. F.R. Hart of Pacific Grove; two sons, Seaman Frank Russell Hart (USN) of San Diego and James Mattson Hart of Monterey; two daughters, the Misses Dona Lynn and Barrie Charlotte Hart of Monterey; and a brother, F.J. Hart of Ione. Rosary will be recited at a 8 p.m. Sunday in the Dorney and Farlinger Memorial Chapel. Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday in San Carlos Church, following brief rites at 9 o’clock in the Dorney & Farlinger chapel. Burial rites with military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno

Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday in San Carlos Church for Dr. Archie Hart, well-known Monterey dentist who died yesterday morning in a local hospital following an illness of three months. Brief rites at 9 o’clock in the Dorney and Farlinger Memorial Chapel will precede the Mass. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday in the Dorney and Farlinger chapel. Military honors will be paid Dr. Hart in burial services at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno. The Rev. Lawrence Farrell, a close, life-long friend of Dr. Hart, will officiate at both the mass and burial rites. Pall-bearers will be: Kalmen Sapero, Donald Hodgson, Herbert Brownell, Dr. Del Elliott, Dr. Dexter Whitcomb and Jack Smith. Friends wishing to make contributions in the memory of Dr. Hart may do so in the form of donations to the Monterey County Cancer Society, Monterey.
