Pacific Grove Tribune, CA Sept. 13, 1946
Art Bailey First Son is Event for Seven Great Grandparents
Kenneth Daniel Bailey is not only a first son and first grandson, but he is also a fifth generation lad on both sides of the family, which is somewhat of a record in anybody’s language. Kenneth Daniel was born August 29 at the Peninsula Community hospital in Carmel. His mother was the former Mary Jane Leslie, and on her side Kenneth Davniel gets a big welcome from the grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. John R. Leslie of 314 Third street, Pacific Grove; and from great-grandparents on the Leslie side, Mr. John Leslie of Fresno and Mr. & Mrs. Samuel V. Scarlett of Carmel Valley. On the father’s side are the grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. William Plumb, of Tacoma; and the great-grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Charles Morgan, of Tacoma; and Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Bailey of Bothell, Washington; and a great-great-grandmother, Mrs. Humphreys, living near London, England. In addition there is a great-aunt, Mrs. Cy De Lashmutt of Fresno, who is the sister of the boy’s maternal grandfather. Other relatives are the two uncles, John T. Leslie, a senior at Grove high, and Charles Plumb of Tacoma. Mother and Dad of the baby won’t even have a look in when it comes to spoiling this young fellow. The new papa, a former S.Sgt. in the army air forces, received his discharge last November, after 22 months in England. He came to this community five years ago, when his father was stationed at Fort Ord with the Third Engineers. He is now with the Minick Transfer company in Monterey. Mrs. Bailey is a peninsula native daughter and attended both schools through Grove highs school graduation
