Frances Fisher Is Engaged
At a festive holiday gathering in their Munras Avenue home last Saturday, Mr. & Mrs. Wright Fisher announced the engagement of their daughter Frances to David Korten of Longview, Wash. Frances was entertained during the quarter vacation at the Korten home in Longview, and Dave later came down to Monterey for the New Year’s Eve celebration. The romance began at Stanford where Frances is a sophomore and David is a graduate student who will receive a masters degree in business administration in June. Frances, a native of Monterey, graduated from Monterey Union High School in June, 1959, where she was president of the student body and received the Bank of America Achievement award upon graduation. At Stanford she is night editor of the Stanford Daily and treasurer of her dormitory, Eucalypto, as well as being an honor student. David is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Theodore Korten of Longview, Wash., and he has one brother, Robert, a sophomore at Stanford. Born in Longview, David attended Robert A. Long High School in that city, graduating fifth in his class, with two achievement awards. At Stanford he was manager of the Stanford Band and a Cardinals board member. After graduation from Stanford in 1959, Dave entered Stanford Graduate School of Business where he organized and is president of the International Business Club. After three years in the Air Force, which he will enter as a 2nd lieutenant, Dave plans to work in the field of management training problems in underdeveloped countries. The young couple plan to be married after Frances graduates from Stanford.
