Sgt. W. Butler Tours Nation in Loan Drive
Is Member of Cast in “Here’s Your Infantry” 7th Loan Production
From battle against the Germans in Africa, Sicily and Italy, Technical Sergeant Wallace Malcolm Butler of Pacific Grove brings to “Here’s Your Infantry” now touring the nation for the 7th War Loan, the combat skill of an experienced Doughboy mortarman and weapons platoon sergeant. The California Infantryman appears with one of 25 “Here’s Your Infantry” teams in a realistic battle scene and attack on an enemy pillbox. The attack employs machine-guns, rifles, mortars and bazookas (rocket launchers) in an exploding inferno of battle. The sham attack is topped off as the doughboys bring into play the dreaded flame thrower firing sheets of orange flame against the enemy. The demonstration is presented to the war bond buying public by the Army ground forces and the treasury department. The teams trained at the infantry school, Fort Benning, Georgia. Sergeant Butler fought in the 3rd infantry division during 20 months oversears in five campaigns. He holds the combat infantryman badge for exemplary conduct in action, distinguished unit badge for outstanding fighting by his outfit and the European theater ribbon with five campaign stars. In this war the California sergeant both fought and bought. Each month he purchases a war bond from his Army pay. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. John R. Butler of 313 3d street, Pacific Grove, and was a warehouse man before entering the Army in January, 1941.
