Dr. Van Horn and Mrs. Borregaard are Married
A champagne silk taffeta gown, trimmed with mink to match her hat, was the wedding costume chosen by Mrs. Marguerite Borregaard for her marriage to Dr. Clancy Van Horn of Carmel Valley. They were married last Saturday afternoon at a two o’clock ceremony performed by the Rev. Don Johnson in the Carmel Valley Community Chapel. Pink and white chrysanthemums and white tapers formed the background for their exchange of vows, witnessed by about 100 friends and family members. The bride’s flowers were pale green orchids flown in from Australia, and her jewelry was a handsome jeweled jade necklace. Mrs. Bill Lindsey of San Mateo, the matron of honor, wore a turquoise taffeta gown with matching hat and a corsage of white orchids. Francis Palms gave the bride in marriage and Jim Large was Dr. Van Horn’s best man. A reception, arranged by Mrs. Palms, followed at the couple’s new home in Hitchcock Canyon. There the newlyweds were toasted in champagne and cut a wedding cake that was iced in champagne and jade green to complement the bride’s costume. The bridal pair spent the weekend at Brookdale Lodge in Santa Cruz and today left for a two weeks wedding trip to Chicago. Among the wedding guests were the popular doctor’s parents, Mr. & Mrs. Lee Vandy, and his grandmother, Mrs. M.L. House, of Long Beach, and his aunt, Miss Marguerite Van Horn of Pasadena. Dr. Van Horn, who has his medical practive in Carmel Valley, is prominent in the community’s activities. His bride has been a Carmel visitor since her girlhood and, with her three children, Christine, Douglas and Bruce, has made Carmel Valley her home for the past year. Her mother, Mrs. Marguerite McAdams, makes her home in Taos, New Mexico, and her sister, Jancie, is resident of Darien, Connecticut. A family dinner last week at the Grant Risdons celebrated many events. There is Julie’s birthday, Grant Jr.’s birthday, daughter Cynthia Sproule’s birthday as well as granddaughter, Julie’s birthday. Also there is Grant and Julie’s wedding anniversary as well as Cynthia’s, who is here on the Peninsula for a few months while her husband is in the Azores.
