Monterey Peninsula Herald, CA Jan. 23, 1942
Died in Hawaii
Mike Criscuola – member of the crew of the U.S.S. Arizona, had today been officially listed as “lost in action Dec. 7, 1941,” after the navy department had been unable to find any trace of the Monterey youth. An official telegram was received by his father, Antonio Criscuola, Oak Grove, yesterday. Earlier the family of Tommy Trovato, also of Oak Grove, and also a member of the Arizona’s crew had been noofiied that he also had been officially declared dead. Parents of Jack Hazdovac, third Monterey youth who was in the Arizona’s crew, had received NO further word from the navy department and are still hopeful that he may be alive.
