Mrs. McAulay to Wed
Sunday, the 15th day of July, will be the wedding day for Mrs. Martin B. McAulay, widow of the late Dr. McAulay of Monterey, and Dr. Richard E. Day of Sunnyvale, well known author, lecturer and minister in the Baptist church. The prominent couple will be married in the First Baptist Church in New Monterey, with the Rev. Ralph Mulholland officiating, and invitations are in the mail for the reception that will follow in the Hatton Fields home of Mrs. McAulay’s brother-in-law and sister, Mr. & Mrs. Orville B. Jones. Mrs. McAulay and Dr. Day met years ago when he was lecturing at an Asilomar conference and their friendship was renewed in later years when the future Mrs. Day was a member of his classes at Mt. Hermon. Mrs. McAulay has been living in Honolulu in recent years, serving as superintendent of the International Child Evangelism Fellowship and she came to the mainland in May to attend the New York wedding for her daughter, Kathleen Joan McAulay, to Alexander William Jones. Since then, Mrs. McAulay has been lecturing and showing films of the Child Evengelism work. She plans to give up that activity now and after her marriage will assist Dr. Day in his work. He is the author of several biographies, including “The Life Story of Henry Parsons Crowell, the Breakfast Table Autocrat,” The Life of Dwight Lyman Moody: and “The Life of Charles Haddon Purgeon. It is Mrs. McAulay’s hope that her daughter will be able to come west to be her wedding attendant, but that is indefinite as Kathleen and her husband are just recently back from a honeymoon to Scotland, Ireland and England. Just after they returned, Kathleen contracted scarlet fever and is still convalescing from the effects of that illness.
