Monterey Peninsula Herald, CA Jan. 27, 1942
Louise Cowen, to Wed February 8th, is Feted at Party
Miss Louise Cowen, who on February eighth will exchange her marriage vows with Master Sergeant William Fichter of the Presidio of Monterey, was the complimented guest at a pre-nuptial party given last Thursday evening. Mrs. Frank Brunner was hostess at the party, and her Spazier avenue home was gay with arrangements of white stock, daisies and calla lilies. Games entertained Mrs. Brunner’s guests that evening, and prizes were won by Mrs. R.M. Moore, Mrs. Jack Farrell (mother of the bride-to-be) and Miss Alberta Walter. After Louise had opened the attractive packages, which her friends showered upon her, refreshments were served by the hostess, and the color scheme of green and yellow was even carried out in the tempting array of food. Present to honor Miss Cowen were Mrs. E.O. Walker, Mrs. Chester E. McDermed, Mrs. George Galios, Mrs. Jack Farrell, Mrs. Dewey Hurst, Miss Muriel Hollman, Miss June Hollman, Miss Alberta Walter, Miss Dalene Nielson, Miss Wynette Walker, Mrs. R.M. Moore and the hostess, Mrs. Brunner. Louise and Mr. Fichter will be united in marriage at three o’clock Sunday afternoon, February eighth, in the Presidio of Monterey chapel. Chaplain John Wright will officiate at the ceremony, and Louise has asked two of her Pacific Grove High School friends, Miss Dalene Niesen and Miss Ruth Fogg (who is now teaching in Live Oak) to be her attendants. Following their marriage, the couple will reside temporarily at 209 Twelfth street, in Pacific Grove, until Presidio quarters are available.
