Home Wedding Rites Unite Shirley Wyatt and George E. Roth
On Saturday afternoon at four o’clock Miss Shirley Mae Wyatt, only daughter of Mr. William W. Wyatt, deputy collector of U.S. Customs, and Mrs. Wyatt, of Pacific Grove, became the bride of George E. Roth, radarman 2-c, U.S. Navy. The pair exchanged vows before the fern decked fireplace in the Wyatt home on Del Monte Boulevard, with the Rev. T.J. Barkle officiating. Throughout the house were pastel spider chrysanthemums. The bride wore brown accessories with her aqua hued suit. Her corsage was an orchid. Miss Dollie Latta, her maid of honor, was dressed in a grey suit, brown accessories and wore a gardenia corsage. Standing with the benedict was his twin brother, Jake Roth, radarman 3-c U.S. Navy, who is stationed with his brother at Alameda. Mr. & Mrs. Adam Roth, parents of the bridegroom, reside in Colorado. The benedict is one of fourteen children. At the reception that followed the vow exchange the newlyweds cut the bride’s cake, placed on the table decorated with gold chrysanthemums. Mrs. Roth is a graduate of Monterey Union High School and her father served as captain of the port at Monterey at the start of the war. He was responsible for closing the port to all civilian activities under the direction of the U.S. Coast Guard. The newlyweds have no definite plans about a future home, but expected to stop briefly in San Jose before the benedict reported back to Alameda. Among wedding guests were relatives of the bride from Vallejo, including Mr. & Mrs. X.W. Hanna, Mrs. Lillian Dickey, Mrs. Raymond O’Toole, Mr. & Mrs. D.P. Falmas, Miss Dorothy Dickey and Donald O’Toole.
