Pacific Grove Review, CA Jan. 5, 1901
Robert Westcott and Josephine E. Ellis Married
There was a novel and happy wedding at te home of Mrs. F.W. Ellison Monday evening last, as which time Mr. Robert Westott of Philadelphia and Miss Josephine E. Ellis, the charming daughter of Mrs. Ellis, united their fortunes for life. It had been arranged to have the ceremony commence just before the hour of 12 on Monday night of the old year. At the appointed time, Rev. Geo. W. Foote, formerly rector of Trinity church in San Jose, commenced the ceremony, and as the bells rang out the midnight hour, and just after the new year and the new century were ushered in, he pronounced the happy couple man and wife. The wedding was not strictly private, but only a few of the most intimate friends of the young couple were invited to witness the ceremony. Those present were Misses Annie and Margaret Westcott, aunts of the groom, Prof. and Mrs. R.L. Sandwick, Mr. & Mrs. E.B. Lewis, Mr. & Mrs. Geo. F. Bodfish and Master Fenwick Bodfish, Miss Belle Mitchell of Hollister, Misses Ava and Iva Kent, Miss Helen Wood, Misses Bessie and Edna Lewis, m. Adam of Glasglow, Scotland, Miss J.E. Kent of San Francisco, Mrs. E.W. Ellis, Misses Clara K., Elsie A., Annie A., Marion W., and L. Evelyn Ellis. The presents were numerous and costly. After the ceremony, the guests were invited to partake of dainty and tempting refreshments. The bride and groom left the following day for a trip to San Francisco, and thence to Los Angeles by steamer. They will be gone about a month, after which they will return for a brief visit here, prior to their departure for their future home in Yreka, Siskiyou county. The young couple have the best wishes of a host of friends for the best the earth affords in the way of happiness and prosperity.
