Miss Schultz Becomes Bride of Mr. Rees
The Presbyterian Church in Monterey was the scene of an informal but pretty wedding on Saturday, November 8, when Miss Alma Emily Schultz of Monterey became the bride of Mr. Spencer Rees of Hollister. The bride and groom were attended by Miss Beatrice J. Vidal as bridesmaid and Mr. Sidney Schultz as best man, the marriage service being read by the Rev. Edward M. Sharp, as the young couple stood in front of the fireplace. The bride was gowned in yellow georgette and wore a corsage of lilies-of-the-valley and American beauty roses, while the bridesmaid wore a blue frock of the same material, her flowers being also lilies-of-the-valley and roses. Following the ceremony a turkey dinner was served at the home of the bride’s mother, Mrs. Violet Schultz, with 15 relatives and friends present. After the honeymoon in San Francisco and other northern points, the young couple will be at home n Hollister, where the groom is connected with Gury’s bakery. He was formerly with Scott’s bakery in Pacific Grove. On the Wednesday preceding the wedding the 30 girls of the telephone office gave a shower for the bride-to-be at her home on Fourth street, the popular little operator being the delighted recipient of a beautiful electric toaster from her mates. The time was spent in front of the open fire in viewing the hope chest with its content and the many other lovely gifts received by the honor guest. Dainty refreshments were a fitting close to the happy evening.
