Wedding Services Read Amid Beauty of Flowers
With the marriage of Mr. & Mrs. Hal M. Decker Sunday afternoon in the New Monterey Baptist church, Pacific Grove received a welcome addition to its ever increasing young married set. They returned here after a short wedding trip to make their home at the corner of Junipero and Monterey avenues. A large gathering of the two families and intimate friends witnessed the ceremony which took place at four o'clock with the Rev. William V. Morgan officiating before an improvised arch of white flowers. There was a pervading perfume of lilies and other fragrant blossoms from the banks of flowers used along the aisles and elsewhere to add to the beauty of the setting. The bride, the former Miss Clarice Beach, was given in marriage by her father, Mr. Henry Beach. Her gown was of white satin, with long fitted sleeves and a high neck. A wreath of orange blossoms held the veil in place and an exquisite shower bouquet of white roses was carried. The maid of honor, Miss Barbara Brown, wore a gown of pink and carried roses while the bridesmaids, Misses Dona Jean Parker, Arlene Fuller, Mary Hufford and Doris Young were dressed alike in contrasting colors of peach and orchid. Fred Decker served as his brother’s best man and ushers included Jack Uzzell, Victor Rink, James McGowan and Marnus Flaws. Little Alice Joy Bentley as the little flower girl, was charming in a long gown of blue and carried an old fashioned bouquet. Wesley Chase played the wedding march and Mrs. Alice Beantley sang “Oh Promise Me” and “Because.” Later there was a reception at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. & Mrs. Henry Beach, in the Del Monte Grove where the traditional wedding cake was cut.
