Pacific Grove Review, CA Dec. 7, 1906
Mrs. Emily Soper passed away at 11 o’clock Tuesday night the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Brough, 412 Park avenue, this city. Mrs. Soper had been a sufferer from Brights disease for a long time and her death was expected. She had been confined to her bed for some months. She was a pioneer of the State, having crossed the plains from the State of New York, where she was born on February 16, 11814, in 1860, with her family. Her husband died in Dover 35 years ago. Deceased had resided in the Grove since October 20th of this year. A good Christian woman, Mrs. Soper was highly esteemed by all who knew her. A family of seven grown sons and daughters are left: Mrs. Margaret M. Brough, whose home is in Newman; Mrs. D.S. Hubsand of Modesto, Mrs. Nettie Emerson, residing in San Francisco; Mrs. Rosa Iverson, in Redding; Mrs. William Duncan in Richmond and George and Frank Soper who are at Los Banos. The remains are to be shipped to Modesto by Undertaker J.K. Paul, where the funeral will take place Friday morning at 11 o’clock.
