Simpson Services are Impressive
An unusual and impressive ceremony for Mrs. Minnie May Simpson, wife of Edward Simpson was held under the oaks, adjacent to the Simpson residence at 618 Fountain avenue, Wednesday morning, with Rev. Lee Sadler officiating. Held in the great out-of-doors, the funeral rites were exceptionally inspiring. The floral tributes, numbering into the hundreds, created a display, the like of which has seldom, if ever, been seen in Pacific Grove. They attested to the great esteem in which Mrs. Simpson and her husband have been held in the community. The funeral services were in the hands of The Paul Mortuary chapel, assisted by the Pythian Sisters, the Ladies Relief Corps, and members of the Rotary Club. Active pall bearers were Sheldon Gilmer, George Fortier, Emmett McMenamin, Clarence L. Trine, Oliver Watson and George Good. The group of honorary pall bearers was composed of six Rotarians, including William Fardee, Bernard Schulte, Jack Beaumont, Fred Moore, Allen Griffin and Otis Berthold. The Rotary Club quartet assisted in the singing of several songs. Mrs. Simpson was born in Roseburg, Oregon, but had lived in Pacific Grove for 30 years. She was 56 years old at the time of her death. For years Mrs. Simpson had been a member of the Pacific Grove Civic Club, the Ladies Relief Corps and the Pythian Sisters and had always manifested an active interest in these organizations. She was also a member of the Christian Church of Pacific Grove. She is survived by her husband, Edward Simpson, and a foster mother, Mrs. F.O. Scarlett of Suisun, California. Following cremation, the ashes were taken to Suisun, to be deposited with these of other members of Mrs. Simpson’s family. Funeral services were attended by several hundred friends and relatives.

Simpson, Minnie M., married E., age 60, died in Monterey County on June 8, 1936
