Soldier Washed Off the Rocks
Private Pavloff, of the 20th United States Infantry, is Drowned at Moss Beach
Pvt. Pavloff lost his life at Moss Beach by being too venturesome. He was out with a company which was maneuvering, and while off duty climbed upon the rocks. He reached the extreme edge of a ledge when a huge wave came in and washed him into the water. He was unable to gain a footing on the slippery rocks and was drowned in sight of his companions. A search was made for his body but it was nto recovered. The beach will be patrolled by the soldiers in the hope of recovering the remains of their comrade. Pavloff had been a member of the 20th Regiment for about 18 months.
