Pacific Grove Tide, CA June 12, 1936
Santa Cruz Mourns Loss of Mayor
Roy Hammond, mayor of Santa Cruz for the past three years, died at his home this week, after a long illness. Hammond was born in Auburn, Kane County, Illinois, and in 1900 was feature cartoonist for the Aurora Daily News. He was a member of Elks lodge, Rotary club, and honorary member of the Foresters of America and a member of the Republican central committee. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Wesendorf Mortuary chapel, conducted by the Santa Cruz Lodge of Elks. Rev. H.S. Mahood, of the First Congregational Church officiated.

Hammond, Roy H., married M., age 55, died in Santa Cruz county on June 8, 1936
