Salinas - Julia Soroken died Tuesday at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. She was 88. Born Jan. 4, 1912, in Los Angeles, she lived n Salinas since 1942. Mrs. Soroken was a member of Temple Beth El. She enjoyed knitting, gardening, baking and spending time with her family. She is survived by three daughters, Marsha Soroken of Israel, Ethel Cristol of North San Gabriel and Edith Soroken of Walnut Creek; three sons, Josef Soroken of Israel, Stan Soroken of Salinas and Marvin Soroken of San Ramon; two brothers, Adolph Goldman of Laguna Hills and Irving Goldman of Santa Rosa; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Struve & Laporte Funeral Chapel in Salinas. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Salinas. The family suggests that any memorial contributions be made to Temple Beth El, Salinas.
