Death Takes Andrew Beaumont
Andrew Beaumont, prominent Pacific Grove resident since 1919 and a highly respected member of this community, passed away last evening at his home after a serious illness of several weeks. Mr. Beaumont was engaged in the real estate business on the Peninsula since his arrival here, first with the old Pacific Improvement company and in later years with the Del Monte Properties company. He retired from active business two years ago because of ill health. Native of Ireland. A quiet and modest man, he nevertheless took a keen interest in all Peninsula affairs and gave his backing to any projects for the improvement of this locality, for which he had a deep love. He was born in Ballymena, County Autrim in Northern Ireland on April 28, 1866, one of fourteen children. Coming to the United States in his youth, he resided in Indiana until 1900 and in that year came west to San Francisco. In 1919 he came to Pacific Grove and had made his home there since that time. In 1925 he was married to the former Winifred Tuttle of Pacific Grove. Besides his wife, Mrs. Winifred Beaumont, he is survived by a son, Jack Beaumont of Pacific Grove, four grandchildren, Mrs. James B. Wilson of Pacific Grove, Lt. Robert G. Beaumont in North Africa, Mrs. Edward Weiner of Pacific Grove and Ensign James O. Beaumont who is stationed in Maine; two great-grandchildren, Lou Ann Wilson and Jams B. Wilson Jr., Pacific Grove. Funeral services will be announced later. Paul’s Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
