Rites Tomorrow for Lt. Howland
Funeral services for Lt. Glenn Howland, who was killed in an airplane crash last Sunday, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 at the First Congregational church in Pacific Grove. Wife of the popular young Pacific Grove man, Mrs. Norma Howland, arrived this morning from Mission, Texas, where Lt. Howland had been stationed with the U.S. Army air corps. The Rev. Elwood B. Hunter will officiate at the services, and burial will be in the Mack family plot in El Carmelo Cemetery. Pau’s mortuary is in charge. Lt. Howland met his death when the plane he was piloting lost a wing during a power dive. He attempted to bail out and he had freed himself from the plane, but he was not able to pull the ripcord of his parachute. A flying cadet with him went down with the plane and was also killed.
