W.H. Muscutt of Seaside Succumbs
Death claimed William H. Muscutt of Seaside on Saturday morning in a Salinas hospital following an extended illness. A retired teamster and lumberman, he had made his home on the Peninsula for more than 30 years. Mr. Muscutt was born October 12, 1861, in Michigan, a descendant of pioneer woodsmen of that area. As a young man he made his way to the Northwest, establishing a home in Seattle and engaging in the lumber business there. In 19224 he married the widowed Mrs. A.E. Barnhart in San Fernando, and a few years later moved with his family to Monterey. A quiet, home-loving man, he confined his interests to his family during the latter years of his long life. In addition to his wife, Mrs. Mary Agnes Muscutt of Seaside, he leaves two sons, William Muscutt of Carmel and Leslie Muscutt of Bellingham, Washington; a stepson, San Barnhart of Monterey, and nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in The Paul Mortuary, with the Rev. John A. Logan officiating. Burial will take place in the Monterey City Cemetery.
