Mrs. Mary Jane Pritchard, a resident of Pacific Grove since 1945, died early this morning in a local hospital after a long period of failing health. She made her home at 1239 Surf Ave. Mrs. Pritchard was born Nov. 1, 1883, in Kilkeel, County Down, North Ireland, and came first to the United States in 1901. She retnrned to her native land briefly 10 years later, and her marriage to Charles Pritchard took place on New Year’s Eve, 1912, in Kiderminster, England. The family home was in Santa Barbara for 40 years prior to her husband’s retirement from active business life in 1945, when Mr. and Mrs. Pritchard came to the Peninsula to be near their daughter, Mrs. James Lebeck, wife of an instructor at the Robert H. Downs School. Mrs. Pritchard was an active member of the Santa Barbara Women’s Civic Club. In addition to her husband and Mrs. Lebeck, she leaves another daughter, Mrs. Fred Brooks of Sacramento; a brother, William Sloan living in Ireland; a sister, Mrs. Charles Hanna of Philadelphia, Pa.; and four grandchildren, Charles Gerald and Cynthia Ann Lebeck of Pacific Grove, Lawrence Frederick and Robert Charles Brooks of Sacramento. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Little Chapel by-the-Sea Crematorium with the Rev. Bernard W. Lowry officiating. The Paul Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Friends wishing to do so may make contributions in Mrs. Pritchard’s memory to the American Cancer Society, Monterey.

Final Rites Wednesday for Mrs. M.J. Pritchard
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Jane Pritchard will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in the Little Chapel by-the-Sea, with the Rev. Bernard W. Lowry officiating. Burial will take place in El Carmelo Cemetery. The Paul Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Pritchard’s death occurred Feb. 1 in a local hospital. Friends wishing to make contributions in her memory may do so in the form of donations to the American Cancer Research Society, Monterey.
