Monterey Peninsula Herald, CA Feb 3, 1954
Alfred Thomas Foster Sr., of Seaside died yesterday morning at a Salinas hospital. He had had a heart condition for some time but death was unexpected. Mr. Foster was born April 7, 1892, in St. Louis, Mo. He had been a resident of Monterey and Seaside for the past 20 years and was widely known on the Peninsula. He was manager of the Monterey Bowl for many years and more recently held a similar position at Fort Ord. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of Monterey Lodge No. 217 F&AM. He is survived by a son, Al Foster Jr., of Monterey; a daughter, Mrs. Virginia Farley of St. Louis, Mo.; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. from Mission Mortuary. Monterey Lodge No. 217 F&AM will officiate. Burial will follow in the Masonic section of Cementerio El Encinal. Pall bearers will be Homer Lovejoy, Kenneth Copsey, Montry Hellam, Joe Quaglia, Ray Baugh and Herbert Bispo.
