Mrs. C.D. Clark Dies After Long Illness
Had Been Resident of Monterey Peninsula for Twenty-Nine Years
Mrs. Carrie D. Clark died at her home, 306 ½ Park street, Pacific Grove, yesterday morning, after a prolonged illness. Mrs. Clark’s maiden name was Caroline Desire Nelson, daughter of Doctor and Mrs. Luther Nelson. She was born September 20, 1836, in the town of Cherry Creek, Chautauqua county, New York. Married Francis C. Clark at Put-in Bay, Ottawa county, Ohio, June 15, 1856. Lived in Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Wisconsin, coming to Watsonville, California, from Janesville, Wisconsin in 1876. Was a resident of that city for eleven years. Came to Monterey in 1888, and for nineteen years made her home here. Her husband, a Grand Army veteran, died over ten years ago. Since then she has resided in Pacific Grove. Mrs. Clark was a member of Mayflower Congregational Church, and of Fairchild Circle, Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic. A brother, C.H. Nelson, lives in Taft, Florida; a sister, Mrs. Emily M. Kastor, in Santa Cruz; several nieces and nephews, also grand nieces and nephews, in Ohio, Michigan and California. She had a wide acquaintance. The funeral will be held Sunday, May 13, at 10 a.m., at the undertaking parlors of J.K. Paul, Rev. B.M. Palmer officiating. The pallbearers will be members of Lucius Fairchild Post, G.A.R. Members of Mayflower Church, Ladies of the Grand Army, and Fairchild Post, G.A.R., are invited. No flowers. She will be laid to rest in Carmelo cemetery, beside her husband, who died in 1906.

Funeral of Mrs. C.D. Clark
The funeral of the late Mrs. C.D. Clark will be held this afternoon at the undertaking parlors of J.K. Paul in Pacific Grove. The hour is 1 o’clock.
