Monterey County Herald, CA April 27. 2000
Maria Santos Balli, a homemaker, died Tuesday at Natividad Medical Center in Salinas. She was 73. Born April 4, 1927, in Edinburg, Texas, she lived in Soledad for 37 years. Mrs. Balli enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, listening to music and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Jose; two sons, Jose Balli and Adrian Balli, both of Soledad; three aunts, Edna Balli and Maria Santana, both of Soledad, and Diana Balli of Salinas; five brothers, Aurelio Prado of Salinas, Federico Prado, Encarnacion Prado, Victor Prado and Avelino Prado, all of Edinburgh; a sister, Guadalupe Cruz of Edinburg; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Whitehurst Terry Funeral Chapel in Soledad with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Solitude Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Soledad District Cemetery.
