Monterey Peninsula Herald, CA June 25, 1932 p2
Pioneer Resident is Laid to Rest
John F. Ingram, a descendant of one of California’s most noted pioneer families, was laid to rest in the Monterey cemetery yesterday morning, the services being conducted by the Monterey Elks. He was born in Sonoma county in 1859, his mother being Isabella Walker, the first white woman to be born in this state. She was the daughter of Captain Joel Walker, the noted pathfinder and signer of California’s first state constitution, a copy of which hangs in the Customs House. Mr. Ingram was a resident of Monterey county from boyhood, always being engaged in the cattle business. Later he moved to San Luis Obispo county where he owned and operated many of the large ranch properties, his operations extending into Santa Barbara county. At the time of his death he was the owner of the Santa Rosa Rancho in Santa Barbara county, one of the last Spanish cattle properties there. He was a brother of Mrs. B.F. Wright of Monterey, and leaves a widow, Mrs. Anna D. Ingram of Los Angeles, a son, Chester T. Ingram and a daughter, Leslie V. Ingram.
