Monterey Peninsula Herald, CA July 18, 1932 p1
Mrs. Will Jacks Fatally Stricken
Enjoyment of a Sunday outing was turned to grief yesterday afternoon shortly after 1 o’clock when Mrs. Will Jacks was fatally stricken with a heart attack, attributed to over exertion, while she and her husband were entertaining a small party of friends at a barbecue on their Aguajito rancho, about two miles south of Monterey. Mrs. Jacks was rushed to the Monterey hospital where Dr. Hugh Dormody and other members of the hospital staff worked over her with all the resources at their command but without success. Born 55 years ago in Salinas, Mrs. Jacks had lived nearly all her life in this section of the state, with the exception of three or four years when the family resided in Mexico. She was married to Mr. Jacks, son of the late David Jacks, pioneer local business leader, in 1912 in Salinas, and most of her later years were spent at the Jacks home at Scott and Van Buren streets, Monterey. Beside her husband she is survived by a sister, Mrs. W.F. Smith of Sausalito, and a brother, Frank B. Wilcoxen of Pacific Grove. Funeral services will be held privately for members of the family and intimate friends, Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock in the late residence. Interment will be in the Salinas cemetery. Paul’s mortuary is handling arrangements.
