Mose Diaz Dies at Monterey Home
Mose Diaz, a great-grandson of General Jose Tiburcio Castro, died today after a long illness. The direct descendant of an all-important personage of Monterey’s early Spanish era, was born here and resided with his wife, Ivy, whom he leaves, at 1261 Fourth street, Monterey. He was 41. Two children, a son, Carlos, and a daughter, Ivy, also survive. A brother, Albert Diaz, lives in Monterey. Mr. Diaz was a member of the Society of the Holy Name and a member of the Catholic church. Services will be held Monday morning at 9:30 o’clock at the T.A. Dorney Funeral Home and at 10 o’clock from the San Carlos church. Burial will be at the family plot in the Monterey Catholic cemetery. Well known as a musician, Mose Diaz was a member of a local Spanish orchestra which provided music for many gay Monterey fiestas. He was one of the early members of the Stickers club that played an active part in the club program.
