San Francisco Chronicle, CA Monday, November 4, 2002, pE99
SKELTON, Mary Christine - At home in Woodside, CA on Friday, October 25, 2002, after a lengthy illness. Beloved and loving wife of John Skelton and mother of Jessica and Zachary Skelton; devoted sister of Steven, Timothy, Christopher and Peter Carr, and Catherine Burk; cherished daughter-in-law of Mary Catherine Skelton of Pacific Grove; treasured sister-in-law of Kevin and Dennis Skelton and Ann Kruiswyk. Preceded in death by her parents, Charles A. and Edith L. Carr, and son Andrew. Born April 30, 1949, at Newport, RI, Mary was a graduate of Sacred Hearts Academy, Honolulu, HI, and the University of California at Berkeley. Raised in a Navy family, she grew up principally in Hawaii and Carmel-by-the-Sea, as well as other places where her father, a Naval aviator, was stationed. Mary was a warm, generous and truly kind person, a gentle soul who was always concerned about others before herself. She gave tirelessly of herself, even in illness, to family, friends, church and community, and was active on behalf of numerous school, conservation and animal welfare causes. She was a caring and loyal friend to the many extended family, friends and colleagues who were fortunate enough to have known her; a good and decent person who added to every life she touched. She will be greatly missed. We will all be a little more alone in this world without her. "Good people touch your life forever. You never forget them". A public Memorial Service, and Celebration of Mary's life will take place at 11:00am on Friday, November 15 at the Church of the Nativity, 210 Oak Grove Ave., Menlo Park. Inurnment at El Carmelo Cemetery, Pacific Grove, CA. Arrangements by the Menlo Park Chapel of SPANGLER MORTUARIES, Menlo Park, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a donation be made in memory of Mary to the Clinical Cancer Center at Stanford University Medical Center, Stanford CA. Attn: George A. Fisher M.D.; or Friends of the Sea Otter, 125 Ocean View Blvd, Suite 204, Pacific Grove, CA. 93950 as the donor prefers.
