Monterey Peninsula Herald, CA March 26, 1945 p2
S.W. Ollason Dies Suddenly
Sinclair William Ollason, 51, member of a well known Monterey family, collapsed Saturday night at a local motion picture theater and died shortly afterward at the Monterey hospital. He suffered a heart attack. A city employee since 1935, Mr. Ollason was serving as city wharfinger at the time of his death. Earlier he had been sexton at the city cemetery and a special policeman at the wharf. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Ollason of Monterey; a brother, Charles Robert Ollason of San Francisco; and other relatives in this area. A second brother, Lawrence P. Ollason of Monterey, passed away less than a year ago. Mr. Ollason was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He held the Purple Heart for wounds suffered while serving overseas. He was also a member of the Monterey Elks Lodge and that organization will conduct funeral services. He was also an active member, for many years, of the old Stickers club here and was a longtime member of the volunteer fire department here. Mr. Ollason had been in failing health for some years and his death, although a shock to many friends, was not entirely unexpected. Prior to accepting employment with the city he was for years employed by the F.E. Booth Co., pioneer sardine canning firm here. Funeral services, with the Elks Lodge in charge, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday (March 2Cool from Dorney’s chapel. Burial will be in the Monterey cemetery.
