Winton Roscoe Greer, 43, of Seaside, died last night at a local hospital following a brief illness. Better known to his many friends on Monterey Peninsula as “Pete,” Mr. Greer was a partner in the Peninsula Paving and Grading Co. in Seaside, and a deacon in the Seaside Tabernacle Church. Mr. Greer was born in Eckman, West Va., Jan. 3, 1910. he has lived on the Peninsula since 1944, at 1162 Josselyn Canyon Rd. During World War II, Mr. Greer served in the Army Air Corps. He leaves his wife, Willamae Elizabeth; two sons, James William and Stanley Gaylord, and two daughters, Dorothy Charon and Shirley Darlene, all of Monterey; and his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. William R. Greer of Seaside. Services will be held at the Dorney & Farlinger Funeral Home Thursday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Leroy Peterson, the Rev. Ralph J. Vanderberg, and the Rev. James J. Johnson will officiate. Interment will be held in Mission Memorial Cemetery in Seaside.
