Anyone who has an interest in genealogy may join. Membership in the Society includes a subscription to Paths to the Past, a monthly newsletter that includes information about upcoming programs, activities and fund raising events. Membership also includes a quarterly subscription to Paths to the Past Supplement, the Cole Library Genealogy Division recent acquisitions. The membership year runs from January to December. However, new members who join after October 1 are given memberships through the following calendar year.
