Steven M. Baird, MD
ANNUAL GENETICS AND GENEALOGY LECTURE"Call me Lucy"
Description
Dr. Baird graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Biology and
from Stanford University School of Medicine. He is Emeritus Professor of
Clinical Pathology at UCSD School of Medicine. He received the Distinguished
Teaching Award from the UCSD Division of the UC Academic Senate,
the UCSD Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching, and three
UCSD Medical School's Kaiser Teaching Awards. His research interests are
in lymphomas and leukemias, and more recently prostate cancer stem
cells. Dr. Baird is also a composer and lyricist of his own unique musical
genre - Scientific Gospel. His band, The Galapagos Mountain Boys
(formerly The Opossums of Truth) perform semi-regularly, singing songs
about science and social issues from his six CDs. He is presently composing
genealogy songs about his family's migration to the United States from
Europe in the 18th century.
