Elaine Alexander

US Ports of Arrival and Their Records

Elaine will discuss the records generated at the 101 Ports of Entry through the years, where they are located, and how they may be accessed. She will discuss both passenger lists and arrival records, the relationships between immigration and naturalization and many other questions you have about the arrival of your ancestors to this country.

Elaine Alexander is a specialist in research of passenger lists and naturalization records. She has served at the Los Angeles Regional Family History Center since 1992 as teacher, supervisor, assistant to the director of passenger lists and as head of the naturalization records project. She has developed instructional materials and taught classes in genealogy at UCLA, CSU Northridge, and LA City College. She has three books in print: "How to Find Naturalization Records," "US Ports of Arrival and Their Records," and "5 Steps to Passenger Lists."
