NSDCGS Research Group is Now Inactive
We are organizing a pilot Research Group for the purpose of helping Society members with their research problems ("brick walls"). The Research Group will consist of Society members experienced in genealogy research and willing to help others. Participants need not be "experts." From 3-5 members will be selected to consider questions submitted by our members, matching areas of expertise to questions submitted.
The panel will then meet with the member to discuss their research question for about 30 minutes, giving the submitter their best suggestions. The panel will meet at the Cole Library for 90 minutes, thereby allowing for 3 different questions at each session. Submitters will fill out a short form to (1) set out the question to be discussed (2) tell what sources he has already used and (3) what information he/she already knows. This will help prevent the research panel from "re-inventing the wheel."
This program is designed for intermediate genealogy researchers. Beginning researchers will be referred to the Society's beginning genealogy classes.
GOALS: Provide a forum for assisting Society members with their genealogical research. Help broaden members' knowledge of research resources.
